Description |
Overview:
To plan and direct programs and procedures, covering all phases of employee activities, to ensure the facilities have available the human resources necessary to fulfill HBI objectives and goals while maintaining good employee relations and a union free environment.
Responsibilities:
Successfully interact with plant personnel to ensure the organization and planning of complete HR policies and practices, with the strongest focus being in the area of employee and labor relations.
Promote and implement employee information programs designed to most effectively increase employee knowledge about HBI policies, objectives, organizations, and activities. Develop an atmosphere where information flows both ways within the facility to management and the employees.
Responsible for contributing to the maintenance of a non-union status through successfully carrying out sound employee and community relations philosophies while, at the same time, recognizing the daily concerns of the operation.
Assist employees, upon request, who wish to use the Open Door procedure. Counsel with employees as may be requested. Formulate and recommend solutions in problem areas.
Conduct employee meetings as necessary and keep up-to-date on State and Federal laws governing employment, wage and hour, EEOC, Affirmative Action, and labor. Assist in preparing, administering, and analyzing opinion surveys.
Manage the maintenance of employee HR records. Information must be readily available and include complete individual employee records, accident investigation records, etc.
Assist management in developing and administering employment and HR policies designed to comply with State and Federal Affirmative Action laws and guidelines to achieve goals for hiring and to minimize our legal exposure.
Stay abreast of policies and be able to interpret for anyone who needs assistance. Work with headquarters and facility management to develop hourly policies by noting a need and analyzing impact of new policy or policy changes.
Support the operation of the Safety Program to help maintain good safety practices throughout the facility.
Endeavor to retain qualified employees as circumstances justify.
Maintain professional contact with other companies, trade and professional associations within the geographical area concerning new trends in labor relations, HR practices and communications.
Serves as a representative of the Company at civic and community functions and will have contact with the general public at large.
Conduct facility personnel research projects as required.
Administer the facility Wage Administration program.
Provide counseling to management on all matters relating to plant/employee relations.
Manage the testing and hiring of hourly employees for the facility. Hiring practices should be in accordance with all Company, State, and Federal guidelines. Responsible for orientation of new employees.
Review and determine appropriate action, in conjunction with facility management, with regard to serious corrective actions.
Receive strategic guidance from headquarters personnel in reference to benefit administration, corrective actions, policy interpretation, training and/or special projects.
Provides assistance to headquarters personnel through joint efforts of the parties, including the best course of action to follow in the overall personnel operation. Guidance and assistance is also provided to all plant supervision on a daily basis.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Four-year college degree in industrial relations, business administration, HR or related field preferred.
Two to five years experience in all areas of HR with particular emphasis in employee relations or three years experience as a unit HR administrator with strong human relations skills.
Discretion in handling confidential matters.
Possess excellent interpersonal and tact/diplomacy skills.
Have the ability to motivate and influence.
Excellent communication and strong PC skills
